Roberto Tapia is a native of San Diego, California. When he was a kid his parents moved back to Culiacan Sinaloa. At the age of 9 his parents sent him to music school where he learned how to play the clarinet and percussion which allowed him to once play with Sinaloa’s Symphony.
At the age of 13 his parents moved back to California where Roberto Tapia continued his musical studies. At 17 he made his first official appearance as a Regional Mexican music artists in Tijuana opening the show for El Lobito de Sinaloa. Roberto Tapia continued to open shows for the stelar artists of the night. Eventually he made his own album and Sony caught glimps of it, siging him to a contract in 2002.
Currently Roberto Tapia is signed to Machete music and now mostly sing corridos. In an interview Roberto Tapia stated that his corridos are done with respect and shouldn’t offend anyone. He sings about the daily life of ordinary people who live the fast life in Mexico.
