Born in 1978, Anita started singing at the age of 5 first recording in studio at Magic Mountain’s Sing Like A Start novelty store. Being in was a karaoke recording studio, She sang and recorded Lost in Your Eyes by Debbie Gibson. At the time, She was taking ballet and tap lessons but decided to train in vocal instead. Her mother started formal vocal lessons at the age of almost 6 with Tony Silva. She originally began training in opera and musical theater but later expanded her repertoire into Jazz, Blues, Standards, and Pop.

She started piano lessons at age 8 in order to be able to read music for chorale singing. By the age of 10 Anita was already accustomed to the stage recording the pilot for TV’s Star Search, singing at numerous showcases, and at multiple parties.

At age 12, Ms. Blunt auditioned for Pacoima Junior High School’s Theater Fine Arts magnet. She was accepted and attended from 1991-1993. During her enrollment, Anita sang for the city councilman, Alex Padilla, at large town function held in the school’s auditorium.

In 1993, Anita helped the school’s musical theater group win the annual statewide Shakespeare Festival in which schools from around the state compete in an all day musical theater competition where high schools and junior high schools competed against one another. Of the 60 schools competing, their group took second place with their rendition of Broadway’s Ms. Saigon.

Also in 1993, Marquis “Hami” Dair, manager and producer, held auditions for an all latin female hip hop group. Anita auditioned and became one of four in Friday After Skool (F.A.S.).

After graduating from Junior High School she began studio recording a demo package with Mr. Dair along with the other girls. She was lead vocalist on the majority of the around 15 songs and co-wrote “Can’t Help Falling“, one of the groups ballads.

With F.A.S., Anita auditioned for a series of companies including Capitol Records, EMI Latin and Disney, who was pitching a new show featuring our group. The group also held many showcases for many of the industry’s A&R people and local producers. The group matured and fell apart in 1995 after just two years, but three of the members, including Anita, continued performing for church carnivals and school events for about a year following the split.

After entering High School Anita joined the school’s choir singing at Retirement Homes and for the school’s graduation where she was given a solo of Whitney Houston’s “One Moment in Time”. After a 6 year hiatus, Anita went back into singing appearing on the Spanish show “Cuanto Cuesta el Show” which was a latin version of America’s Got Talent. She competed on the show 5 times and took home a cash prize.

Anita started singing with a small trio band consisting of an acoustic guitar and a Spanish percussion Cajon. Marlon Grace, Craig Daniels and Anita created “The GooDS” and appeared together on the last two shows.

Later, with Marlon, Anita recorded an original piece entitled “Come Fly With Me” which was featured in an advertisement aired in Florida. The song received a silver Telly Award in 2006 for original song.

In 2001, Anita was contacted by a local artist, Eluzhen of Kontroversy, and asked if she could come in and record a hook for the rap group. She recorded the first of many songs for the group and in 2004 became Anita Blunt.

Anita worked exclusively with Kontroversy until 2006. Together they recorded many songs and Ms. Blunt was able to co-write and record “Shoulda Known Better” which she performed as an opening act for R&B artist, Jon B. (“Shoulda Known Better” has recently been played on internet radio stations worldwide such as KiiS Sweden and KiiS UK.)

During that time, Anita began to venture out working with other local rappers such as Hectic formerly of Valley Concept and his team. She still maintained a part time musical lifestyle and wrote and recorded approximately 50 solo songs on a home computer studio for around 4 years.

In 2006, Anita started working with Cyper of Sock-A-Bitch Records and found the gangster feel for music. Still working part time on music, in September of 2009, she received a break and linked up with Cloudstorm Ent and Skull Camp. Anita decided to jump in full force into the studio and since, the music has skyrocketed.

Ms. Blunt has since recorded her first solo mixtape available to the fans, “The Sounds of A Storm”, which features artists who helped shape her career such as Eluzhen, Cyper, Hectic, and D the Great. She is now working on production of her first solo LP. Anita Blunt have been featured with such artist as MC Eiht, AMG, Butch Cassidy and Kokane.

During her musical life, she has worked with many producers from around the world, many artists from around the nation, and has performed all over southern California. Anita is quoted in saying, “My musical career goal is simple: I just want to make good music.” …..Just one listen, and you’ll agree, she’s succeeding.
