Liverpool have been handed a major injury blow ahead of their Champions League clash against Porto tomorrow night.

According to Liverpool Echo, the Reds are set to be without right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold who has not travelled with the squad to Portugal today.

According to the report, Liverpool has not revealed the extent of the injury, but the defender could also miss the match against Manchester City.

The 22-year old has been a key player for Jurgen Klipp and his absence from the Reds will be a major blow.

Alexander-Arnold is undoubtedly one of the best fullbacks in world football right now and he is integral to Liverpool’s style of play.

The England international is a brilliant creator from the right-back position, in addition to his defensive skills.

The defender has created numerous chances for Liverpool over the last couple of seasons with his outstanding long-range passing and crossing ability. Alexander-Arnold is also a threat from direct and indirect set-pieces.

It will be interesting to see how Liverpool handles his absence in the next few matches.

Klopp could also consider Neco Williams, a youngster. James Miller could be Klopp’s right back, or the German manager could use him as that.

The Liverpool midfielder, who also played against Crystal Palace, was asked to fill the role of full-back. He has the experience as well as the quality to excel at that position.

Williams is inexperienced and could struggle against high-quality teams like Manchester City and Porto. Milner’s creativity and passing abilities could make Milner more valuable in the final third.

There will be a decrease in quality, but it will be interesting for Liverpool to see if they can still achieve important results in the face of adversity.
