Julio Cesar Chavez is a retired professional Mexican boxer.

Julio is widely regarded for statistical reasons, as the best fighter who has given Mexico and one of the best in boxing history. In a career that spanned twenty five years, Chavez won five world titles in three weight divisions: WBC super featherweight in 1984, the WBA Light in 1987, WBC Light in 1988, WBC Welterweight in 1989, the IBF Light Welter in 1990 and WBC Welterweight in 1994.

Julio Cesar Chavez was recognized for his exceptional punch with its powerful hook to the liver, the relentless harassment of his opponents and extremely strong jaw. During his heyday, Julio Cesar Chavez was for several years one of the best pound for pound boxers in the world. ESPN ranks him with the number 24 on its list of “Top 50 boxers in history.” On December 7, 2010, Chavez was inducted into the prestigious International Boxing Hall of Fame for the celebration of 2011.
