Van JonesHe now has his very own Times Square Billboard. A dream come true, the New York City billboard promoted Van Jones’s new Amazon Music interview podcast, Uncommon Ground.
Jones dreamed as a teenager of being an activist and to be able to get a Times Square banner. This background is what makes Jones’ teary-eyed reply even more touching. Van’s journey from an activist upstart to a national celebrity has been three decades long. He continued to dream of his dreams through conversations with close friends until that day.
It is possible to see the emotion. here.
New episodes will be released every Wednesday. Van Jones and Uncommon Ground will bring Jones in intimate sit-downs with the most influential personalities across the country in search of unifying solutions to our country’s biggest problems.
The premiere episode will feature the world-renowned Spanish chef, restaurateur, and founder of World Central Kitchen, José Andrés. Both Jones and he were presented with the Courage and Civility Award from Jeff Bezos (founder and executive chairman of Amazon). along with a $100 million gift to the non-profit organization(s) of his choice.
Deepak Chopra and Sarah Silverman will be joining the festivities. Bishop T.D. Jakes, Andrew Yang, S.E. Cupp, among many others.
“The uniters need a platform,” Jones said. “America has gotten so fragmented that we can’t even solve basic problems — let alone handle major crises. It is easy to focus too much on the dividing lines. Because the stakes are so high for everyone, it is important that people of different backgrounds can listen to and learn from one another in order to get things done. Amazon and I created this podcast to allow leaders, visionaries, and artists to share constructive conversations across various lines of differences. Each episode will leave you feeling uplifted, more hopeful and a little wiser about how we can build a better future.”
