Vikki Carr is a Latin singer and actress.

She descends from a Mexican family and was baptized as Florence Bicenta de Casillas Martinez Cardona.

After taking the stage name “Vikki Carr”, the singer signed with Liberty Records in 1962.

The first single to achieve any success was He’s a Rebel, which in 1962 reached No. 5 in Australia and No. 115 in the U.S. In 1966 she toured Vietnam to support U.S. troops in the Vietnam War, with the actor and comedian Danny Kaye.

In 1967 her album It Must Be Him was nominated for four Grammy awards. That year the album’s title track reached No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the U.S. This single also reached # 1 on the Billboard Easy Listening charts for 3 weeks straight. She had two other songs which entered the Top 40: The Lesson (1968),which also reached # 1 on the Billboard Easy Listening charts and With Pen in Hand (1969). At this time, the actor Dean Martin christened it “the best singer in the business,” Carr recorded 10 singles and and 13 albums that entered the U.S. charts.

Vikki works in radio, television, film and theater. She sings in several styles including jazz, pop and country, but has developed her greatest success singing in Spanish.
She had many hits record and has performed songs with figures such as Julio Iglesias, Ana Gabriel, Manoella Torres, Vicente Fernandez, Trini Lopez, Danny Rivera, etc.
