David Sanchez Badillo, better known as "Tempo" is the most relevant figure of the new history of urban Latin music. Born in public housing in south Ponce, Puerto Rico where he grew up with his two younger sisters Jessica and Daimar. Tempo attended school in South Island, and studied for a semester at the Escuela Libre de Música Juan Morell Campos since Tempo was clear that he had gift of rhythm and prose.
His parents divorced when he was four years and during the next decade Tempo grew up in Puerto Rico and New York, in turn, living sometimes with his mother and sometimes with his paternal grandmother.
