Momposonica is a Latino American alternative rock band formed in the United States that combines punk, pop, latin percussion and electronic music.
Momposonica was formed in mid-2003 in Englewood, New Jersey by five Colombian expatriates, guitarist Felipe Taborda, drummer Martin Quintero, lead vocalist Luis Garcia, percussionist David Pinto and bassist Alessandro Rueda. In 2008, the band split up and reformed as a four-piece in 2009, with Colombian bassist Mauricio Molina and Salvadoran singer–songwriter Carolina Craig. Momposonica is a mix of garage rock, pop, Latin and electronic rhythms. In 2006, Momposonica signed a record deal with legendary trombone salsero Jimmy Bosch's label, JRGR records.
