The year was 1967 in Bilbao, the Basque Country's largest city, when a group of young students -- fans of folk and spiritual music and of the Beatles, like most other students -- decided to form a musical group that was first known as "Voces y Guitarras" ("Voices and Guitars"). They spent a year performing near home when one fine day they decided to record a demo on cassette and send it by way of a friend to a record company in Madrid. That is how the tape reached the hands of Juan Carlos Calderón, who took an immediate interest in the group and became their producer for more than eleven years. Renamed MOCEDADES, the group was now on its way to making a remarkable string of hits, including songs such as Eres Tú, which won second place in the 1973 Eurovision song festival.
