Los Fabulosos Cadillacs

LFC have been one of the biggest Rock bands in the world for the past 15 years, both in popularity and musical innovation. Recognized for their adventurous fusion of ska, rock, tropical, punk, reggae and Latin rhythm, “LFC” have sold millions of records worldwide.

The band’s ever growing reputation has led to collaborations with numerous talented musicians, that to date have included Mick Jones (Clash, Big Audio Dynamite), Deborah Harry (Blondie), Chris Frantz & Tina Weymouth (Talking Heads), Fishbone, Big Youth, Celia Cruz and Ruben Blades. Fabulosos Cadillacs’ 1994 single “Matador” (which New York Magazine called “one of the great rock songs of the nineties, in any language”) is widely recognized as the first smash Latin Rock single in the U.S. – permeating Latin dance clubs, car stereos and boom boxes across the country.

The song gained such notoriety, that it won MTV Latino’s “Video of The Year” award and caught the ear of John Cusak who included the track in the film and soundtrack of Grosse Point Blank. Quentin Tarantino also used the bands music in the film, “Curdled”.

With LFC leading the charge by touring in front of an ever growing U.S. audiences (playing many cities that had never before hosted a Latin Rock show), Rock en Español became a fast growing musical movement in America, resulting in the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (NARAS) creating a new category for the genre.

When the first Grammy for “Best Latin Rock/Alternative Record” was presented in March ’98, it seemed appropriate that the award honored “LFC” genre-bending masterpiece Fabulosos Calavera, which the Los Angeles Times called “…the Sgt. Pepper of the Rock en Espanol movement,” while Spin suggested the album “May be the future of rock ‘n’ roll.” The awarding of the Grammy and the wealth of critical praise for Fabulosos Calavera resulted in “LFC” becoming the first Latin Rock band to appear on national late-night TV in the U.S.

LFC recently won another MTV Music Award and were nominated for two Latin Grammys. Recently, the band celebrated its 15th year annivesary by hosting a series of sold out stadium shows in Buenos Aires that were recorded for a live album. This same show will now be toured around the world. 15 years of history and 15 years of hits!
