Dareyes de la Sierra formed in 1997 with the name Los Llegadores de Sonora, but never achieved the opportunity to record with that name. The band members came to realize the immense talent of the group and predict they would go far with their style of music. Many people suggested a different name since they were singing sierreno music and recommended the name Los Alteños de Sierra which then recorded their first live album and to date have recorded six albums.
