Born in the province of Salcedo, Dominican Republic, within a humble family. His parents separated when he was barely 2 years old, and had to care of the grandmother Leopoldina. Juan Joel grew up listening to bachata and his cousins formed a group to serenade the girls, at that time provided the illusion of singing.
His father takes him along with his two brothers to live with him in the capital, when the need was present at all times, so asks his father to buy him a shoeshine box to help financially for him and his two brothers and sold roasted peanuts and washing cars. |
