Caneo is a word in Cuban slang means friend and is the product of an idea generated by several friends, restless, salsa lovers, who in August 1988 came together and created a group that today is a symbol of this kind in Colombia but in its pure expression, dancer sauce.
In 1988 they recorded their first full-length album, entitled "Salsa en Grande", of which highlighted the issues "Maria la O, De punta a punta and Te lo di todo.". These themes were used for the nascent group was invited to participate in the Carnival of Barranquilla, where they won the Congo de Oro award for best group Revelation. Then, participated in the Caribbean Music Festival and won the "Caracol de Oro", prize reserved for the best in this event.
